It's not that I'm grateful that he did the shopping (I mean, don't get me wrong, I didn't have to go to the store. Me - 1, Grocery Store - 0) - it's that when he shops without me it means I eat a lot less. [Did you know, NPR recently reported that whether you're a man or a woman, if you are eating with another woman - you eat more. At first I was offended, then I realized... my husband does often complain that I make too much food...]
I have what you might call a "snacking issue". My petite frame can handle full sleeves of cookies, entire Entenmann's chocolate cakes, multiple bowls of cereal... oooh recently Bugles came out with a chocolate covered peanut butter filled Bugle. Go ahead and judge, but wow they were tasty. And Chex came out with a 100 calorie pack chocolate caramel Chex mix - delicious.
When my husband goes to the store though, he doesn't come home with these awesome tasty treats... he doesn't get distracted by coupons that entice the shopper to buy 3 of something and get 1 free - something the shopper never intended on buying. Instead we end up with a new Wegmans recipe card and a yummy dinner that I didn't have to make - I'm a lucky lady...
More on coupons some other time... as there are no snacks in the house I must get another glass of wine.
Love your posts. Keep 'em coming.
ReplyDeleteSam wishes the same could be said in our house. Alas, I'm the one who pounds a box of Thin Mints in a sitting. Not even a long sitting. Just like 15 minutes in a chair... I'm also the one who gets suckered by the coupons; "ohhh, we always have double stuff oreos (never), I can save a dollar on 12 boxes?!"
ReplyDeleteThat being said, she is getting a pretty bomb salad for dinner tonight. And i'm going to buy cookies. We miss you guys. See you soon.
